The problem is i'm not exactly sure what to do. A soup kitchen would now work since there are many. I want to do something for the kids in the area and i want to try and form an organization for them/ or for donations. I'm not sure how to do this because many things won't be safe to do either. Does anyone have any ideas?

Why don't you contact some social services organizations in the area and ask what is needed? People running the soup kitchens or food bank would know what services are needed but no one is providing. Maybe clothes are hard to come by and a free "clothes closet" is needed. Maybe people who are homeless need a place to shower and do laundry. Once you know what's needed, you can look at which need you might be able to fill. Good luck!

You may want to start with the children, just get a study group together ,you can go to the local elementary school or High school. They may direct you to the targeted students.Poverty is like the ocean it is so vast and sometimes it just looks to big,but if you can pick something specifically like education you might be able to help that way.

Try contacting StandUpforKids and see if they have a local chapter. If they don't, they'll tell you how to start one. They focus on helping runaways.
