My first tattoo I knew I wanted it for almost a year before I got it. I've been thinking about a second one for a few months now and I figured out what I want last week. How long do you think is a good amount of time to think about it to make sure I want it before having it done?

thanks = )

I still really like the first one I got- no regrets at all. I do want to put it in a place that can be covered if I want to later in life. I was thinking my lower back. The one I already have (a lily) is on the right side of my lower back. Do you think it would look ok to get a second one (a blue bird flying..fairly small) somewhere else on my lower back?

thanks!!!

I don't think that you can set a specifc time frame for something like this. Just remember that you will have this tattoo for the rest of your life (unless you pay a huge amount of money to have it removed later on). So if you think that it might not look good 10 years from now, then don't do it. You say your first tattoo is of a lilly. And you want the second one to be of a small bird? Well, why not have the bird tattooed as if it were flying over your lilly? That would look good. You can have a tattoo artist put an outline of it on you for you to look at. If you don't like it like that, then don't get it inked there. But I think that would tie your tattoos in together perfectly. You don't want to get tattoos all over the place. That looks stupid.

took me 10 yrs for each of the two I have (chinese dragon at top of thigh and a beautiful green dragon fly on my shoulder) and no regrets whatsoever. But I'd think twice about two on your back - could look unbalanced perhaps? What about the top of your thigh, or on your tummy, or above the bikini line? DO take care to choose the right thing - it would be awful if you decided in 10- yrs time ( for example) that a playboy bunny was a bad tattoo to have!
Good luck

However long until your mind doesn't change. For some that is years, some it's months. The one I am getting in two weeks I have been thinking about for years and finally after last year my mind stopped changing and I'm getting more and more excited! I turned 18 in October just so you know why I waited so long and it's my first tat.

I have 5 tattoo's now, and before getting each one I knew I had to be 100% sure that I wanted it becasue its there for life. So It took me about a month or 2, then when i was sure I got it done ! :)

I don't think there's a certain time period that you need to think about it, but you should always make sure that your tattoos will be of something that you are going to still find beautiful 20 years from now. I always ask myself if I would like something on a canvas hanging on my wall first because if I find it beautiful as art, I'll always love it even on my skin.

Hi
I have a tatoo on my upper arm and at the time i thought id want it forever, now days i wish i hadnt had it where it is, my advice is if you want a tatoo and have done for a few weeks have it done, think about how you feel about the one you already have, one thing tho is i would recommend you have it where it is easy to cover up if you want to, like for your wedding day or special occasion.

I thought about the piece I got on the back of my neck for over ten years. The one on my arm, I considered for 2 years. Other arm was about 5 years.

I think I thought it through...=0)
