I recently moved from Japan to New Zealand. I have one transformer that I bought in New Zealand so that I can use Japanese appliances. Is there some simple way (such as adding a resister) that I can use my Japanese appliances in New zealand. Japan uses 120v, New Zealand uses 220 to 240v I believe. The different wall plugs are no problem. What can I do to my appliances-such as a rice cooker- so that I can use them here.

You will need to buy extra transformers, or share a big one. Make sure that the Watts rating of the transformer is higher than the total wattage of the appliance you connect to it.

However, even with transformers, some appliances, such as TVs, may not work (Japan uses NTSC, NZ I think uses PAL)
