Luckily hair-dressing, like lots of other businesses these days, runs largely on snobbery. Ironically this means the best way to make a success of your business is to have the confidence in yourself, your skills and your service to drive your prices right up (at least double what you presently charge), be VERY picky whom YOU work for and market your business as: 'the best money can buy' in your area!
If this sounds like too radical an idea for you, go with the one's above that suggest offering extras or discounts AS WELL as increasing your prices and being selective.
People these days can no longer judge quality so instead they judge EVERYTHING by PRICE. If you charge at least double what you do now not only will you increase the prestige and pride in what you do, but also you will make the same amount of money in half the time. People seek quality and if you pull this off you will have more customers than you can shake a stick at!
Regarding leaflet drops; most indiscriminate drops will only find one customer for every 200 leaflets dropped. If you are doing any better than this, you are doing well; it really is just a numbers game, the better you target the customers you want, the more success you'll have, simple as that.
Give it some serious thought (you can always offer discounts if you find it isn't working). Charge an extortionate price and be proud of your service and 'how little you charge'!

This Site Might Help You.
RE:
What would make you phone from a hairdressing leaflet?
I'm a mobile hairdresser and I'm doing a leaflet drop, I have a leaflet at present and I was wondering if there is anything particular I can do to draw people in. My prices are relatively cheap too.

I would advertise "hair parties"
It works in such a way that you would have X amount of people in one house at one given time. The person whos house you do will only pay half for their colour etc.
This way the other people at the party will want half price service too, and will have a party at THEIR house with new customers. This should follow a full circle and you will have a fantastic client base!
Also, if their is an OAP area where you live, drop a leaflet in there. Do an oap rate one day a week and you can call to thier homes etc to do their hair.Alot of old people will have no way of maybe getting to the hairdressers and would love to have their hair done at home.
Alos make it sound like your a personal hairdresser! Put on the leaflets "Find it hard to find time to get your hair done, well relax after a hard day's work and allow **** come to you in the comfort of your own home in YOUR spare time!"

Do sometype of offer. Like 25% discount with your first visit. Make the leaflet eye catchy, with a full list of prices, conact info e.t.c. Make sure leaflet is blended with the pictures you may have on it.
Good Luck

10% discount with production of the leaflet should work.
or free blow dry with leaflet
make it pink. make it stand out in some way. make it look glam and like you are offering a pampering experience. Aim it at the age group you want to attract

make it as customer friendly and flexable as possible, state some of your prices. Any awards or what qualifications you have, try to be as down to earth as possible..I don't think theres much else you can do..just state what services your provide...home appointments etc...if you dont mind doing older womens hair on a reguar basis perhaps stating that it is possible to book weekly appointments with you...schedule permitting etc. Hope that helps x

some kinda freebie with a purchase
like a free cut with a paid colour , or a few free foils with a paid cut. what about a special card, whereby every time u get a haircut you get the card stamped, once u have accumulated so many stamps you get one free cut.

nothing.....sorry but ever since i was younger and i done that i ended up with practically no hair on my head...now that i have managed to get my hair to shoulder length (not quite what it was before) i will not do that again... id rather pay the money for the proper toni and guy type stuff...and even then id rather do my own hair for practise....and if i mess it up i only have myself to blame.
