Okay, my dog, who is a two-year-old Jack Russell Terrier, has been taught some months ago how to retrieve things when someone tells him to get something and bring that thing to back that person, and now he does it all the time when things fall onto the floor and people don't even ask him to retrieve it. Obviously, he's learned that if he picks up things and gives them to people, he'll get a dog treat. My parents give him treats every single time he does this little retrieving trick and, since he does it all the time, that adds up to a lot of treats. I constantly tell them that he doesn't need a treat for every time he does it, but they won't stop giving him so many treats. Should my dog be given treats for every time he does his retrieving trick even though he's already learned how to do it well?

I don't give him treats all the time for this trick. Only my parents do.
