On both sides!
Christians have their New World Order nonsense, and thanks to the Da Vinci code, the non-believers have all this Jesus was married crap.
Are the extremes making it harder for those who aren't to be friends?

Didn't mean to imply that most non-believers bought into the Da Vinci code. Most don't, of course. But those who DO really upset the faithful.

What makes it hard to be friendly with everybody is that everybody is trying to be right and is willing to fight to the bitter end to prove themselves. If everybody just stopped all of the nonsense then I think things could be better off. If everybody lived and let live then it could be very possible.

People would be better off if we could eliminate the ability to use religion (and race) for propaganda. Everytime the government wants to do something they wave around the religion card and fuel the fire to whip us all up into a frenzy - while they quietly do whatever they want while we are all so busy hating each other.
Every year at election time the media and the government trot out one of their favorite emotional issues (abortion, gay rights, borders, the war they want us to believe is religiously motivated instead of motivated by their own profit margin, etc.) and they are careful not to make any changes in these areas so they can carefully put it away when the election is over and then they can pull it out again in a couple years.
We can combat this ourselves by not buying into the hype, even though mob mentality is a hard thing to run contrary to.
Peace!
PS - ugh! Isn't it sad to see some of these responses. I think there's a lot of people who need to grow up or to actually speak to their clergy to find that they are wrong. We don't have to all be the same religion to live in harmony with one another. We simply must respect each other's privacy.
I wonder if Kurt Vonnegut is cranky that Another Road Side Attraction didn't cause the stir and sensation that the DaVinci Code has.

I think the problem goes beyond just the Da Vinci code. Christians have more to worry about than some book or movie.
There is a growing community of people that are seeing the truth in Zecharia Sitchin's work on the Sumerian culture. His finding will put the Christian's distorted bible to shame when his work his the masses. The problem is his work is proving the Koran more correct than the bible but they both are a distortion of the truth.
The issue is most of the artifacts are in the middle east so they were closer to history that Americas. So it would make sense the have more accurate records of biblical historical records.

Conspiracy adds spice to life. If we all got along life would be bland. People read the Da Vinci code to spice up a boring life. I asked a very intelligent woman once why she read the Inquirer knowing its all made up. She said "Darling reality is nothing compared to a good fantasy. Besides most people know the Da Vinci code is fiction. It just stirred up controversy which is exciting not conflict.

NO! It would make no difference. There is a very definite line between the two. It only takes faith to cross it and leave the non-believer side of the line which by the way is the finite side of the line. Can not & will not last, it's doomed for destruction on a permanent basis!
