they do. sometimes it takes getting out in the world on their own before they realize how good they had it when they lived at home. lol. i've raised 3 totally on my own. it was really difficult a lot of the time, as we couldn't afford the things and lifestyles their friends had...i spent a lot of time with my kids though, and their friends didn't have that...which is probably why they all hung out at our house. now that they are all grown, they tell me how much they appreciate everything i did to keep us all together, and they have really good memories of the fun times we had together.

It may take a long time, but from my experience, it sure pays off. I even called my parents a few years back and apologized for anything I ever did to them. I felt they were too strict, too closed-minded, etc. But I can at least say I don't do drugs, I don't drink (ok on rare--very rare--occasions), and I pretty much have my head screwed on straight. They didn't buy me a car when I turned 16, I bought it myself. They didn't give me a cell phone, I bought it and paid the bill myself. They didn't pay my way through school, I took out loans and am responsible for the payments. And at the time all this was taking place, yes I resented them for it because all my friends had stuff given to them. But I now respect what I have earned and treat it a lot better because it's mine, and I worked for it.

It may take until they are grown and out of the house, but they will eventually learn what unconditional love meant and be grateful for what you provided them with. And if they don't send them my way! I'll be sure to show them! ;-)

Of course, children know if their parents love them and each other. There's a saying,"the best way to love your child is to love your spouse." All their future relationships are influenced by the way they see their parents relate to them and to others. Too often we or our children see how others live and tend to envy the good we see, because we don't see the pain/hurt/etc. that is hidden from the outside world. There's another saying from Proverbs "Bring up a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not depart from it."

they find out as they get older. if u are close to ur kids and don't get angry at them for every little thing, they know they are loved. otherwise they know they are not and get negative self-concept overtime. i prefer parents should be close to their kids and be more positive and forgiving for the kids to be able to believe that they are loved. =)

It depends. Sometimes, they don't realize it until it's too late or they're just not able to notice it.

definitley. As much as my mom and i used to argue i never doubted her love for me and my brother. it just shone though and nothing could hide it. my dad had a harder time showing love. he was never as affectionate as my mom but i knew he loved us. its just something you know
