If vodka is ethyl alcohol (no odor, taste or color) and water (no odor, tast and color), how can different vodka brands taste different? Why noy just buy the cheapest?
If there's taste, it's gin or some other spirit, right?

All vodkas have different flavors. It depends on the process of distilling. Cheap vodka tastes like metal or charcoal.

The only true flavorless vodka is potato vodka -- like Chopin

No it doesn't mean its gin... Vodka is ethyl alcohol and water but how the alcohol is distilled plays a huge role in the taste.. for example i am sure you have had different types of bottled water and you would agree that different brands taste different even tho its water (odorless & colorless) its due to the distilling process and the water used to begin with. same with vodkas... they are made with different waters and different grains.. corn, potato, maize each grain gives its vodka a different taste.. the best vodkas are tasteless.. cheaper vodka are cheaper because they are less distilled (thus making them cheaper to manufacture) which leaves more of the original grain flavors as well as some flavors of the metals used in the distilling process...i enjoy sky, smirnoff, grey goose, uv, and a local brand made in kansas called most wanted...

The distilling process gives vodka flavor. The quality of ingredients and the top of process affects the price. Better to buy the best you can afford unless you want to feel like you've been run over by a truck after a night of binge drinking.

yes, especially now that their are so many different vodkas as well as many different ways to make them. some being fermented from gain,or potato,or even grapes. aside from all that. their are many methods of filtering, distilling, and even the source of water that is used has an effect on the flavor.
However the cleanest vodkas do tend to be the ones that are distilled many time before bottling. The best one are purely personal choice
