Marijuana stimulates the metabolism and also changes one's perception of taste and smell. The "munchies" is caused by a high person's increased appetitie and appreciation for taste and smell. Marijuana slightly increases metabolism but is usually offset by "the munchies". Hope that helps!

It merely distorts the body's perception of reality. Munchies being one of those distortions. Makes one "feel" hungry. Sound.....makes music "appear" to sound better. Time, it makes time "seem" to slow down considerably. Sexual appetite, it creates the "feeling" of better sex. Motion, causes one to think that things are "slowed" down. Generally is causes distorted perceptions of reality.

The main active chemical in marijuana is THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol). The membranes of certain nerve cells in the brain contain protein receptors that bind to THC. Once securely in place, THC kicks off a series of cellular reactions that ultimately lead to the high that users experience when they smoke marijuana.

People who have an addictive compulsive nature may encounter problems with weed.

Hmm good question. Marijuana is a depressant on the brain but speeds up your heart rate and increases blood pressure.

I don't think it actually slows down the metabolism. It does seem to make people more inclined to not do activities that require getting out of their chair and it makes them want to eat more.
