Usually went you want it to come back on, you would just touch the touchpad, but that's only if the screensaver is on. When my computer is on standby, I would press the power button for a brief moment [and I mean brief because if you hold onto it too long, the computer will shut off]. I am not sure if this is what your computer would do, because all computers are different. You might want to just test it out before just trying that when you have unsaved documents going.
