My bro-in-law brought my husband over a bottle of Bud Light from Nov. 05 that he has had in his frig for awhile. My hubby is acting tipsy off of that one beer.
Was drinking the beer a mistake? Could it harm him?

no it will not harm him... as the beer sets on a shelf for a long time it continues to ferment which can increase the alcohol % by volume so it is not uncommon for an older beer to be stronger causing the "tipsy"... i myself store cases for up to 3 years before drinking... i assure you he will be fine... (some beers change flavors drastically due to the increased fermentation so if it tasted funny that is why)

Out of date beer won't harm him, and I doubt it fermented any further if it was kept in the fridge, as any remaining yeast would be dormant at cold temps. The main concern with out of date beer is flavor change. Breweries put "born on" or "best by" dates on beer because they want you to drink it at optimal freshness, not because it can harm you after those dates. The shelf life depends on many factors. Pastuerized beer will keep longer, and limiting exposure to light and heat will maintain freshness longer.
