I am going out with my best friend now, and I just realized I don't like him the way I thought I did. I don't want to hurt his feelings, because I want him to stay my friend but I don't know how to tell him I want to break up. Please help me.

They don't always. But, if you are sure you feel that way, the only way is to be totally honest. You may hurt his feelings, but dragging it out isn't going to help any. Get it over with.

He may choose not to be your friend any more. You will have to accept his decision, if that's the case.

"You can't always get what you want...
But if you try sometimes...
You just might find...
You get what you need."

Relationships w/ ur best friends usually don't last that long b/c u already kno each other, and u don't have 2 bother going through the 1st stages of a relationship. Just tell him how u feel, and hopefully it won't hurt ur friendship. U have 2 end it now if u still want 2 b friends b4 it gets ugly.

Maybe things just "seem weird" because you have always known him as a friend. Obviously something was there for you 2 to start dating. I dated my best friend and at first the adjustment was weird from best friend to boyfriend/girlfriend. We got together when I was 18. We have been together for 4.5 years now. I say give it some time because chances are, after a breakup... things will be awkward and it might ruin a friendship. But, if your heart says no, go with it. He should understand - I mean he is your best friend.

Maybe because you jump into them too fast?

Just tell him that you think that your relationship is going to quickly, and you want very much to remain close friends, because your friendship means so much to you, and you I don't want to lose it. Your a great guy, and I really like you. But I would hate to lose you as a friend.

Friends don't always work out as lovers. When they do, it's beyond wonderful. If it doesn't, it is hard to not make it impersonal, because by nature it is very personal. The chemistry of friends is very different than the chemistry of lovers. You may want to take the onus on you and say that you don't have what he has and that it has nothing to do with him. Like Bob Dylan sang, "No no no it ain't me babe, it ain't me you're lookin' for babe."

Lots of people who 'fall' for their best friends are confusing affectionate love with passion.....they feel a closeness and comradarie with their friend and then turn that into something else. And the hard part is, when it ends, the friendship is almost always trashed.

Because when your frineds with someone sometimes you can get your feelings mixed up. You havs so much fun together and sometimes when you try to be more than just friends, its not really there.

Well, they always end quickly because you know too much about them. If they are lying to you then you know the truth is somewhere deep down in them and you say in your mind "I ain't haven none of this!"Good luck!
