You could check out this "feminist film theory" subset of a wikipedia article to get you started.

There are plenty of problems with the way that women and men are protrayed in popular culture films. Women are typecast and stereotyped. Only beautiful women with a certain body type are cast in films, whereas older, less physically attractive, or more normal sized women are completely excluded from films. Very few films feature women as lawyers, business executives, architects, or engineers, math or science professors, etc.

There are also problems with the way that gays and lesbians are protrayed.

It's a trick question. There are no gender problems in modern cinema. The problem is getting people to take out mortgages to pay for theatre tickets.
