I've seen quite a few Broadway productions and have felt overdressed in Jeans and a golf shirt and underdressed in a blazer and slacks and tie. It really depends on who you are going with and, to some extent, the time of day that you go. Evening performances are more likely to be filled with more formal attire while matinees will be more casual, but even this can change. I have yet to find any rule that everyone follows, so I would suggest that you just go for comfortable. Remember... please yourself. At least you'll know you pleased someone.

I went to see Wicked back in October and what people were wearing varied quite a bit. There were people that went all out formal (gowns and tuxes and such) and people who were in blue jeans. The majority was somewhere in between the two, so I think you'd be good in dress pants with a nice top. Or if you don't like pants, then I'd say a nice light-weight knee length skirt with ballet flats. For a top, something short sleeved, because it'll probably get warm with all those people around you. But bring a sweater or jacket with you just in case they decide to crank up the A/C in the theatre. Remember, you want to be comfortable while you're sitting there. You don't want to miss any of it (it's amazing!!)
Hope that helped a bit. Enjoy the show!! :-)

When I go to a broadway show, I usually wear something nice and formal, but not too over-the-top. Usually I would wear a dressy top, and dress pants or a skirt with some pearls...I hope this helps! =]

These days it doesn't really much matter. You can have the most expensive seats in the house and still show up in jeans. I would recommend that they be clean, however...
