Dear < Mummy, Daddy>

I am doing fine, and hope the same for you. I am inviting you to visit us and spend your vacation in USA with us. During your stay, we would visit various tourist places in USA such as New York, Washington DC, Niagara Falls, Las Vegas, Las Angeles, Disney Land etc. It will also be an opportunity for you to see and experience the American culture, meet different kinds of people and different variety of food.

I will be taking care of your entire USA tour expenses, including the round trip air fare to USA, food, housing, travel within USA, medical insurance and all your other personal expenses. You will be staying with us at our above given residential address.

I am eagerly waiting for your arrival in USA.

This is a sample of an invitation letter, if you really should need one. Your American host has to send it to you. Main part of these Invitation letters: it must be shown that the host is taking care of everything and you will not become stranded in USA.

Take care

The important question is who is going to issue this letter for you. If it's written by relatives then they just have to mention the purpose of your visit and to state that they will be responsible for you, while on the States. If it is issued by other persons (such as friends or colleagues, acquaintances then is going to be a little bit difficult). Not everybody is willing to take this financial, medical etc..responsibility - I know that I wouldn't do it ,- not even for friends.
But here are some guidelines from a governmental web :

there is no specific format for an invitation letter, and in fact an invitation letter is never required to apply for a US visa. What IS required is a sensible and lucid explanation of what you did there for five months and what you intend to do if you go again that will not violate any of the normal expectations of a tourist visa; that is, you won't work, you won't study, you won't get married, you won't forget to go home again.
