He was fine this morning, ate his regular dog food, and has layed around the yard all day. We have a small creek near us and live in the country. He is up to date on shots and is usually pretty healthy.

You can't find anything wrong - are you a vet? If not, take him to one. Your dog could have any amount of problems, but it sounds like a small seizure to me. They can occur suddenly at any time, as with humans.

If you're worried about any pet at any time, take him to the vet, not Yahoo Answers.

It could be seizure activity. Not all seizures are large scale. Some dogs have epilepsy just like people do.

Also, it could be he's sick, scared, anxious, etc. You probably know whether he's scared if you've had him for a while.

Bring him inside the house. Watch how he walks for any signs of pain or discomfort. Check inside his ears for any sign of infection. Smell inside his ears for a fowl smell that would suggest infection. Take his temperature (normal is around 100 degrees to 102) Look him over to check for any cuts or injuries, including his legs and paws. Check his mouth.. it should be light pink and moist from saliva. If the gums are dark pink and dry, it means he's likely sick or dehydrated. See if he wants to eat or will play with you.

While unlikely, it's possible the creek water made him sick. If your dog drinks out of the creek or swims in it, watch closely for signs of fever, vomiting and lethargy.

Unless you are certain he's not sick, take him to the vet.

ate something outside, or got spooked, did he dig up a 2 week old milk bone ? they'll eat it, it would kill us but, they can eat it, any poisons around the creek for vermin ? try a piece of meat from the fridge, if the dog comes around, it was spooked, if not keep an eye on it.

are his eyes watery? if they are it could be the start of either an eye infection or he could be getting a cold. if he is shaking, he could have a fever. if i were you i would call the vet and ask, the don't usually charge for just answering questions.

Have you tried to see if he is afraid of anything in the creek?

If you are concerned, please take your pet to the vet. You will find them to be a much better and accurate resource for pet-related medical health than yahoo answers.
