a permit is what you have to first get. after having it for however long the state requires then you can take your test for the license. and the drivers ed class only depends on the state and also on your age

No, you do not have to take Drivers-Ed, to get a license. You need to get a Leaners Permit first. This will allow you to learn, and to get experience driving while in the care of a licensed driver. Some states have requirements as to who would be allowed to ride with you during this critical process. When you have mastered your skills, and have had your permit for the designated time required by your state, you may apply for, and test for the real drivers license! Don't be scared, everyone has done it! Study hard, practice makes perfect your skills! The only thing automatic about a license is the many ways one can lose it. Those will be explained in your state's manual. Good luck, and happy motoring!

of course you have to take drivers ed!

if you are 15 1/2, you are eligible for your permit. to obtain your permit, you'll have to take classes at your local driving school or go to your local driving school and tell them you want to take the classes online (i think it costs more to do them online), and people there will get you all set up.

after you take the classes, you'll have to call the DVM nearest you and schedule a day to take the permit test-it's a written test. after the test, they will grade it and tell you if you passed or not. if you passed, they'll take your picture and print you out a permit paper. thus, you are free to drive with a parent or someone over 25 years old ONLY. you will also be redeemed 3 driving lessons with an instructor from the driving school before the license test and you can schedule those with the driving school also-they will provide the car.

after you've had your permit for 6 months and your 16th birthday has arrived, you schedule a date to take the driving test to obtain your license. you'll be tested on the hand signals, if you know how to use important things on your car and if you know where they are, how well you drive the car, and if you know your "street smarts"-just what signs mean, what double yellow lines mean, etc.

if you don't pass the permit test, you'll have to reschedule a date five days after the day you failed the test the first time-the driving school will provide you with all that info.

advice-don't be nervous for any of the tests or while you drive and if you get into a difficult situation in a split second. it's a breeze! i was nervous the first few times i drove, but then i relaxed and things were much better!

good luck!

It is required to have a driver's ed. certification in order to take the behind-the-wheel test and obtain a driver's license. A permit is a permit letting you drive with someone over 21 in a desginated vehicle. You can't drive unless you have a note that permits you to drive around for a quick errand. Permit is something you get after you pass the written test at the DMV.

I'm in South Carolina. No state that I know of requires driver's ed. It will entitle you to a small discount on your auto insurance if you have it. A permit is what you get when you successfully pass the written part of the driving exam without taking or passing the actual driving part. The permit allows you to drive supervised by a licensed driver in the car with you. Good luck:)

Nope, just finished it and had never driver anything but a golf cart. It surprisingly easier than you think. Key things to remember are 1. Go the speed limit 2. When you do the three point/two point turns: go slow! 3. Right foot operates gas and brake (most people know this, but just in case) 4. Use common sense And if you DO mess up, s/he has a brake on his/er side. You'll be fine. And you CAN'T fail drivers ed driving so....

Yes, at least in the united states. Drivers ed allows new drivers to get experience. You have to pass exams and stuff. A permit allows you to drive with an experienced driver for one year. You can drive from 5a.m. to 9p.m. only for the first six months, but after that period of time you can drive at any time. You keep your permit for at least a year, but it is good for 18 months.

The permit is what you use while you're learning to drive. It doesn't give you full priveledges. I heard that soon they will make it manditory to have drivers ed to complete a test and get your license but as of now, no it's not required, at least in my state.

In Canada, driver's ed is optional but will help with insurance rates when you actually drive.

A learner's permit is what you get when you are the legal age and pass a written test on rules and road signs.
