Evolutionary theory presumes that fish became amphibians, some amphibians became reptiles, from the reptiles came both mammals and birds, and eventually some mammals became men. Fossils give tangible evidence of the varieties of life that existed long before man’s arrival. But they have not produced the expected backing for the evolutionary view of how life began or how new kinds got started thereafter. The fossil record should by now have revealed beginnings of new structures in living things. There should be at least some fossils with developing arms, legs, wings, eyes, and other bones and organs.Darwin attempted to explain these huge problems by attacking the fossil record. He said: “I look at the geological record as a history of the world imperfectly kept, . . . imperfect to an extreme degree.” It was assumed by him and others that as time passed the missing fossil links surely would be found. How much progress has been made since Darwin wrote this?

It has mostly been bridged as far as ape-like ancestors to human. Now if you want very very early life, I think you can even find some fossils of algae. Soft tissue does not fossilize well, but coal does have ferns and other plants embedded.
Yes, I think this is a cut-and-paste troll. Not much thought. Fossils are happy happenstances. Try to make one yourself. Right! Bank upon bank of mussel fossils ontop of mountains have tried to been explained away by "Noah's flood" despite there being thousands of years of records.
Sorry, people of the book, it just does not wash. Science will always win unless you continue to burn the scientists. Bruno died for your sins.

Every year there are new transitional species discovered. And every time this happens, close-minded creationists like claim that they are not transitional, just different animals that we previously didn't know about. You are so caught up in your creationist propaganda that you refuse to do a little research and see for yourself just how complete the fossil record is. The real clincher however if forensic genetics, which is a separate method for investigating the history of evolution. This separate technique both confirms what we know from the fossil record, and then goes beyond that and provides even more evidence for evolution.

What gaps are you talking about exactly? And why do you think the fossil record matters?
The fossil record is very useful for geologists mapping the ages of rocks, especially in prospecting.
It does not mean that much to biologists
I think part of the problem is you were taught evolution as a ladder with man having climbed to the top.
NO. Think of it more like a shrubberry, with many branches going everywhere, filling up all the available spaces.

What, bridge all the gaps? That would mean finding a fossil of every animal that ever lived. Clearly that's impossible.
And evolution is a fact, despite the people trying to teach you otherwise.

A lot more than the tired crap the fundies are teaching. Like the earth is flat and is at the center of the univerese. They almost roasted Galelio for telling them the earth is round and revolves around the sun.

If you really want a serious answer to this question, post it in the science section. People here are much too emotional on the subject.

i think the onus is on you to question a specific gap. which particular gap are you questioning?
the short answer, of course, is that just about every major evolutionary step for the past 500+ million years is amazingly well documented. before then, soft tissue pretty much didn't fossilize.

They're found all the time the problem is it's never good enough for creationists. They want to see everything laid out and even then they'd complain. I guess that's what happens when you don't use your brain for anything but mental masturbation.
