go, maybe you'll get something out of it. be open minded. it doesn't mean you're crazy. most people have gone to counseling at some point, and many perfectly functional people go regularly just to vent and keep things in perspective.

sometimes we need to talk with someone who can help us COPE with life, and guide us to SOLVE our issues.
therapists and counselors are very good at this.
and the WONDERFUL thing about it is, they can't tell your mother about anything you've discussed. so this will be someone you can TRUST to keep your secrets and help you sort out feelings you might not want your mom to know about?
the only time a therapist or counselor can tell your parents anything is when you might threaten suicide or bodily harm to another.
when you go, tell the counselor you don't want them to discuss your sessions with anyone, including your parents... that will set the stage for you! (of course, they aren't allowed to tell, but this way, you can make it clear).
i have been in therapy and so has my son -- he was eight years old at the time, and went for a few years off and on. The truth is he really came to TRUST and depend on the therapist for help and guidance...
Sometimes we need someone to talk to. so perhaps think of therapy as doing something for YOU, not for anyone else!
relax about it, and thank GOD someone cares enough to get you someone to talk with.

You are a minor so you have to do what your mom tells you. A counselor can improve your life. You can tell him or her whatever is on your mind, stuff you can't tell anyone else. He will help you overcome your problems.

It depends on why your mom wants you to go. Is there a reason why? You could go and tell the therapist that you don't want to be there and explain yourself. Let the therapist tell your parents. If you don't want to try that you could go to a trusted adult (relative, teacher, pastor). Ask them to help and hopefully you can both come to an agreement.
