one breeder guy who answered one of my previous questions said that breeders almost never let to pups from the same litter go to the same family. is this true or was he one of the only ones that do that?

Good, responsible breeders who care about the welfare of their puppies will not usually let 2 puppies of the same litter go home together.

Backyard breeders will let you take the whole kit and kaboodle if it makes them money.

I can think of several breeders which I consider responsible who HAVE let two dogs from the same litter go to one home. Those who do not (and I know some who will not) mostly worry that the two pups will bond too tightly too each other and not enough to the people. If the two dogs are too bonded should I die the other may morn to death. I had friends with a pair that attached- one was hurt - they almost both died before the hurt one got enough outta casts ect. to be allowed with the other (they in fact rushed it a bit from fear they would loose both). Seeing eye after some study will not let littermates go to the same puppy raising home because they almost never are able to do the training to be a guide dog afterwords but they will let two unrelated dogs of the same age go to the same home because that doesn't seem to make a difference.
If you get a breeder that lets you have two separate them at time if you can (take one to the part Sat the other sun or some such) to try to reduce the dependence

Reputabl breeders can be nuts. I see no reason to not sell two brothers or two sisters to the same family. Hell, why not a brother and a sister, seeing as thee is almost allways a spay/neuter contract involved?

But yeah, they prolly do that. Probably more of a spread the joy type of deal *if there are six pups, and everyone gets two, only three people get. if everyone gets one, 6 people* than a welfare of the dogs. if breeders really cared all that much, large breeds wouldbe bred for longer lifespans, breeds with trouble whelping due to conformation would be bettered so that things would go more smoothly, breeds with docked tails or cropped ears in the standard would be bred to be born that way. I don't think that these pros *that consider it a hobby* are all they say they are. BYBs are worse by far, though.

It is determined by the situations. I recognise anybody who truthfully DID get two dogs from the equal, particularly authentic breeder. If anybody works, or is getting a big puppy, I can see no longer giving anybody two puppies from the equal muddle. Also, a authentic breeder has a ready record, and has different folks short of dogs. They would possibly not promise greater than one million puppy to the equal individual. Also, as anybody else talked about- one male, one feminine...would not do it. Even anybody I depended on one hundred%.

I am going to reply to you and rendogm.. Frist of all to you ren.. I am a very good breeder and I do not think of myself being a back yard breeder I do not do it for the money, because if you look into what you are talking about there isn't really any money in it .. I do it for the Love Of A Shih Tzu. I will sale two puppies the same person in a heart beat.
For one I know the puppy isn't sad about leaving his/her litter mates. Sometimes they take two females sometimes two males, and yes sometimes female and a male. In that case they do get one spayed or nrutered. I keep close tabs on the puppies I sale. I do not sale them then forget them. I see each and every puppy I sale I make sure they are taken care of and I keep in touch with the owners. It really upsets me when people like you (ren) would call people like me a back yard breeder with out coming to my home and see for yourself what I do and what I don't do. Some times I think people like you blow things out your butt.

To answer your question cookie I be the first to sale two puppies to one person, because I am darn careful where my fur babies go to. To know they have some one to play with instead of putting in a crate for 8 hours to fend for them self while people work or go to school which I see many here does do that..I will not sale any of my dogs to anyone that is going to throw them in a crate.

The only reason I can think of for that is because of inbreeding. If that is the reason and the breeder won't let you take two because of that reason, you could sign a promise to get them fixed.

It shouldn't be a problem, maybe that guy is crazy, there are adoptions that include siblings, so I don't know why a breeder wouldn't allow that.
