Can anyone tell me how to keep the doves from building nests in the corners of my drain sprouts?

I have some doves that always build nests on my house where the drain pipes come down from the roof and I would like to discourage them from doing this, They give me the creeps the way they just sit and stare at me while I am in the yard-what can I do to get them to build their nests elsewhere?

Put upward metal rods so they can't land on the top of the drain pipe. They have them all over NY because of the pigeons.

Put a rubber snake up where they usually build their nest.
