Vancouver is a beautiful city. It's near some GREAT skiing, so I hear. And it borders Washington State.

Vancouver is awesome, but if you are not a big fan of living in a big city there are alot of surrounding areas that are even closer to an actual border crossing than downtown.I live in Abbotsford and that is about an hour east of Vancouver and there is a border crossing here at Sumas and it is only 3 minutes away!!Aldergrove is nice as well that is 15 minutes west of Abbotsford and there is also a border crossing there, really anywhere in Greater Vancouver and the Fraser Valley is beautiful.Good Luck!

For large cities you can't go wrong with Vancouver, which is about 27miles from the border. Vancouver is exceptionally vibrant and beautiful (Mountains, Sea, Forest give it a one of a kind ambience). It is, however, expensive.
The city of Surrey, BC (in particular White Rock) sits on the US/Canadian Border adjacent to Blaine,WA.
A word of caution, no matter where along the border you locate, passing over between countries can be a hassle; apply for a NEXUS card to expedite the process

The majority of the cities in Canada are within 100 miles of the US border, so you have plenty to pick from.
