Hello,
Your hair DOES grow... just because it is not long, it does grow. If you have a relaxer, don't you get your hair re-touched because of new-growth?
If your hair is natural, then it should grow.
But anyways, make sure that you are wearing a Satin Cap... I use "Magic Satin", in just several months my hair in the front and sides became full.
I'm still working on my back, but I believe that the key is stopping breakage because I don't take care of the back of my hair well...but have vowed to start. I am wearing a poinytail at night now and that should help stop the breakage.
Also, keep your hair moist but DO NOT grease your scalp, that clogs your pores.
Also since your hair is almost to/past your shoulder, you should wear your hair in a ponytail because your clothes are probably causing breakage.... you need to keep your hair up until it pasts this stage.

For African American hair, the key is moisture. Keep your hair moisturized but not too greasy. Also, try not to wear your hair in ponytails a lot. Excessive "ponytailing" can lead to breakage.

Well what I would do is get all your dead ends cut off when ever you have them. Take really good care of your hair. Use a good shampoo. Finalley just be patient. I do all those things and I think It works pretty well.

Try being in the sun more. Or in warm places. Warmth helps your hair grow longer.

use a good shampoo, and get it trimmed every week.
By TRIMED i mean just a tiny bit, like, a 1/4 of an inch.
