Ok, so my goddaughter is five years old, and as of a few days ago, her mother gave birth to her baby sister. Now, her grandmother has always called her 'Angel baby' and now she is calling the new baby this and it is hurting my goddaughters feelings. The grandmother is a very domineering, abrasive woman, who doesn't take well to being told what to do. How do I tell her she is hurting the feelings of her other granddaughter by calling the baby her pet name?

Tell her something along the line of: with all due respect, your first granddaughter likes her pet name of angel baby, and she is hurt that you call her sister that. That she needs to come up with another pet name for the new baby. And, then, if you can, before you approach her, think up some cute pet names for the baby. If she doesn't accept that, then please, whenever you are around the five yr. old, call her "Angel Baby", and the baby another pet name. One of your own. Or, come up with a new pet name for the 5 yr. old, that is just for you to use for her, and another pet name for you for the baby. I wish you the best on this. Take care.

Angel baby has feelings of insecurity because of the new baby, give her time ,she will understand that the general usage of her name no way detracts from the love she will have ,she will always be the first baby.

Just don't be afraid. Get the girl who she is hurting and confront her and tell her to stop and show to her that she is hurting her feelings.
