Is the tenth digit Y? If this is the case, then the vehicle is a 2000. The system went to numbers starting in 2001, so I'm sure you can guess that an '01 is a 1, '02 is a 2, etc. Before this, they were letters, and they go alphabetically while skipping certain letters in the alphabet. X is 1999, W is 1998, V is 1997 and so on.

Look at the tenth number in your vin code. This is for the year it was produced. The Y code is for the engine type which y would mean engine option it would either be the 6.0 liter or the 4.6 liter engine. Have vin code break downs that where printed in our news line from the assembly plant I work at.
Here is a good source to check your vin number on G.M. products.

Are you for real? You don't know the model year (not year model) of your own vehicle? Check your registration, call your insurance company or check the white label in the drivers door jamb for the date of manufacture, keeping in mind that if it was built after Sept. 1st its probably a model of the following year.Lastly, it's ChevROlet ! I seriously hope your driving days are behind you!
