Is it ok to drink once in a while on the week ends (like twice a month) while dieting, will i still lose weight and keep in shape? I exercise 6 days a week and eat heathly, round 1300-1500 calories a day. My drink of choice is vodka and diet coke/sprite. I know about non-alcoholic drinks but i perfer the real thing. Thanks

On the day you want to kick back a couple of vodkas /Sprite, then trim your food intake to 1100 calories. Just make the adjustment when you want to have a drink. And keep those exercise shoes laced up. You go, girl !!!

Smirnoff Red Label Vodka has 99 calories per shot.
As long as you're considering your caloric intake and budgeting your food around it, it'll be fine. Most people run into a problem with weight gain because they're drinking excessively and not exercising. You're also allowed to cheat just a little once a week. One or 2 drinks will not undo an entire weeks worth of dieting and exercise. Just beware of the calories :)

if you are mixing with diet sodas then yes it is ok (barcardi rum has no carbs) do be careful of sweet drinks tho, amarreto for example will blow your diet.. however a few words from the wise.. on reduced calorie diet you are more likely to become dehydrated and even more likely to have all the bad effects of alcohol like vomitting and possibly alcohol poisioning since you don't have the food to help absorb the liquior.. and you will be a "cheap drunk" since it won't take much alcohol to have a greater affect (which may not be a bad thing:) just be careful and know your limit and as long as you avoid beer and other carb loaded drinks you should be ok. have fun

Don't drink too much because alcohol is quite high in calories. One shot of vodka has around 100 calories. Many alcholic drinks have a few hundred calories per one drink.

If you have a drink or two once or twice a month while continuing to eat healthy and exercise, you should continue to lose weight. However, alcohol does tend to make us lose our inhibitions, so people sometimes find that when they drink they find it more likely that they will also overeat or eat foods they would otherwise avoid.

Having a couple of drinks now and then won't hurt, especially if the little pleasure or short "time off" helps keep you on a diet. Everyone needs to have a little fun.

If your controlling how much you drink then there should be no problem and some experts think that an occasional glass of wine actually helps with diets.

Just think about it this way: one shot of vodka has approximately 100 calories. add it up and you'll know what to do.

in my younger days when I used to run hard, I drank a lot more than now and still lost weight then. It is just caloric load, nothing more......burn it off.
