As far as eating goes, it's going to be difficult for about a week while your teeth and gums settle in. Soups (without a lot of the harder meats) work well as long as the vegetables or noodles are really soft. However, even some of the softest things feel harder than they are the first day or so. Shakes help :D This might sound gross, but try creating a shake out of actual food. Use a blender or food processor to create a baby food like texture. Popsicles will help your gums, just be careful because your gums are going to be really sore and the smallest amount of pressure will hurt. Things that dissolve in your mouth, such as crackers, are good too. The first few days are going to be the worst, but as the time goes on you should notice that you can start eating things that are a little harder day by day. You just have to experiment with different foods and methods of eating them as you go. Hang in there!

Apple sauce, soups or stews, mushed up bananas, mushy cereal in milk, oatmeal, canned fruit likes peaches/pears and or course baby food; or you can puree your food in a food processor. Maybe some hot tea will temporarily help the pain while your drinking it.
Oh, the days of spacers and braces; I remember them well. Just keep in mind it's not forever.

I just got spacers on Thursday and I know how you feel. How long do you have to keep them on. I get braces on Thursday. I have been taking Motrin and thats been helping with the pain. I have been eating applesauce, mashed potatoes, oatmeal, just anything thats not too chewy. I wish you the best of luck.

Anything cold. Ice cream. Frozen Yogurt. Ice water. They stop hurting after about a day. I'm very sorry. The dental industry is evil.
