Being taught the Bible doesn't keep anyone moral---accepting Christ and doing what the Bible teaches keeps one moral. Satan knows the Bible himself and he is definitely not moral.

I think that it is good to teach the Bible morals at the school because parents do not teach the Bible stories to their children anymore. Maybe it did not make any difference in this case. We have a free will. But I think that it is good that we know where God stands in the scheme of things. But it is better not to have teaching at the school about the Bible is the teacher is not Christian.
We cam blame God and religion and Christianity and the Bible for everything we want. Or we can make the difference. :)

It helps keep teens moral, it doesn't mean that they always are. I believe that if we put prayer back into public schools, the condition of the schools will improve. Prayer is allowed in my school, (private) and it is so blessed. We pray all the time. At least twice during chapel, if not more and there have even been mornings where we pray the whole time, then once in Bible and Lit. We pray at lunch and before tests. Our school is NOT perfect in any way, and we still sin and there is still disobedience and all sorts of things, but we are blessed. I don't know why it didn't stop Charles Starkweather, BUT if he didn't have Christ as his Savior, then there was nothing to stop him. Smile, Jesus loves YOU!

Morality is taught by parents from age zero to until attitudes get fixed around the age of 17. Schools have very little influence when it comes to morality. These two misfits no doubt were ruined by missing or brutal parents and their actions had nothing to do with the bible or it being taught in school.

We all have our own will, Preacher,s Sons and Daughters have gone astray. we should be able to have God where ever we wont, after all this country was founded on God. there has always been molesters, and Murderers, rapest and theives, its just more excepted now, we punish less, and powder puff a slap on the hand. some one will say oh my poor boy, or look how this man was raised, its going to effect some people -the way that they were raised, but to act on the terrible things , is there own free will, the truth is written on every ones heart. su

I hear what you're saying, but being the human beings we are, we're also prone to twisting or bastardizing all sorts of things.
Look at people like Jim Jones, David Koresh and Marshall Applewhite.
It's all too easy for any "charismatic" personality to lead a "flock" of gullible people right into any number of horrors or abominations.

You may have also added that they grew up in a time when women didn't work and they received homecooking every night. But, did they really?!?
You might want to examine their personal childhood experiences (in addition to 1950s society in general) to better understand why they turned out the way that they did.

They weren't true "students" were they?
Here is a lesson from that great book of mythology, the Bible, the human being sins.
Forget the religious application of the word, but the action of the word, to sin. The verb.
The human race kills, steals, lies, cheats,
we are greedy and lustful and prideful,
There is no book that will stop someone from having greed or lust or pride,
only good parenting would perhaps instill control and virtue.
I am for a course in public schools to teach Religious studies.

So here you go condemning the Bible because two teens committed crimes...you sound so immature my dear. I see you hand picked one negative example; now try picking out 10 good examples of Bible teachings.
You being one Of the Top contributors here worry me.
You are very silly my dear.

Keep religion out of schools. The school system is there to educate children as to make them intelligent contributors of society. I don't see how the teaching of religion contributes anything to society except to confuse our children into believing something nobody can prove.
