I've done some things that I would like to discuss with my therapist (drinking, smoking, sex, etc.). But I'm only 17 and I can't talk about them if my Mom is going to find out. That would only make our relationship worse. I want my therapist know everything so they can really help.

Generally, your health care provider is obligated to observe your right to confidentiality.
There are some implications here, as to your age and level of maturity...your parents are still responsible for you and are, under the Law obligated to foster your well being and safety.
The law varies from State to State with regards to minors.
Without exception: A founded reason to believe that you could/would harm yourself or some one else, obligates the Professional to intervene: If there is a question in their mind, they have the option to submit a decision to an ethics panel or legal council.
Hope none of this inhibits you from being free flowing and open with your councilor...I am sure that your parents would want this.

Only if you sign a consent , to tell them or if you are a danger to your self or others, talk away,, and tell the therapist of your concerns about confidentiality.

The great thing about therapists is how easy they can be manipulated. They can't say anything unless you make it sound like you are about to kill yourself or someone else. Anything else is pretty much confidential.

No. They cannot. It's against the law. Whatever you tell ANY of your doctors is confidential.
