It really depends on your personality. The most popular transition is blonde highlights. Personally I hate this. I love the edgy styles but with a professional touch to it since I also work in a office part time.
Reds are my favorite. You can also try purple. Believe it or not you can pull it off, especially with dark brown hair.
Chunks are popular right now and pretty much go with any color. I prefer ONE chunky streak. Something like a feather and preferably in bangs. If you have no bangs think about something like Rogue from X-men.

My personal favorite (and many of my friends now love it too!) is Loreal Color Pulse. It washes out after 8-10 shampoos, and its just a mousse you put into your hair. Leave it for a half-hour and rinse it out! Best part is that it's only about $4-6 a bottle.
Comes in some fun colors, but nothing too radical for your first try.
If you've never done it before, I strongly suggest something temporary and cheap. If you love it, great, do the same thing again, and then you can try a permanent color. But if you hate it, it'll only last a few weeks and you won't have wasted money on a salon and expensive products.

Sister, dying your hair isn't only about what hair color you have now. That information will be useless if (or when) you dye your hair. How about eyes, skin: etc. Or ask your stylist for an opinion, even though that might be harder because most aren't trained to be opinionated. ;-)

Go to a good salon, more expensive one and have the color specialist design a combination of colors that works. It's worth it at least for the first time you do it. Now you know what looks good on you, and you can even do it yourself from now on.

well, most brown-haired folks dye their hair blond, but thats if you really an outdoor person. In my opinion, try black with 1/8 of your hair cut. you could also add streaks of other color to that as well.

Go for high lights then, it will bring out your natural colour a treat and when the roots show through it wont be so in your face. Go for gold and blonde because the brown in your natuarl roots will make the high lights stand out more

if your colour is fading out that speedy, you're probable applying a semi everlasting colour or demi everlasting colour. you may attempt what's called everlasting colour, which wont fade yet will strengthen out including your hair, so each 4-8 weeks youd purely might desire to get a retouch. I reccommend going to a salon and having it achieved professional fairly than procuring save bought colour. additionally, i might turn far off from thoroughly black, as quickly because it everlasting black its very no longer hassle-free to get the different colour, including brown. wish this helps!

It really depends on your skin tone, but I would stick to brown. Maybe just brighten it up with a subtle red chocolate, or a little bit lighter brown.
