it is not detecting any removable disk like that(like digicams).
i have a winows xp desktop. no firewire nothing.
so is ther neway of copying from the canon camcorder to computer?i connected to the usb->its saying that "the usb connected to it malfunctioned" smthg like that.
please help

You do really need a firewire connection, and if you haven't got one, it's well worthwhile getting a card. However, if you have connected via USB, have you installed the software? Have you opened a video editing program - you will have window movie maker - and tried using the capture function there?

you need a VCR to digital converter. I can not remember the name for it but, you can get one at office depot
