Microsoft Encarta's definition of myth

1. ancient story: a traditional story about heroes or supernatural beings, often attempting to explain the origins of natural phenomena or aspects of human behavior

2. myths collectively: myths considered as a group or as a genre

3. idealized conception: a set of often idealized or glamorized ideas and stories surrounding a particular phenomenon, concept, or famous person
the myth of the new man

4. false belief: a widely held but mistaken belief
exploding some of the myths about dieting

5. fictitious person or thing: somebody who or something that is fictitious or nonexistent, but whose existence is widely believed in
The loving wife turned out to be a myth.

[Mid-19th century. Directly or via French mythe < modern Latin mythus < Greek muthos "speech, myth"]

That sure seems to define Christianity.

In the website http://www.religioustolerance.org/gl_m.htm

Myth: A traditional story that is not literally true, but which generally portrays fundamental spiritual and religious truths. There are probably on the order of 500 creation myths among the many faith groups in the world. Most, or all, do not represent reality. But many contain much wisdom.

Again, that defines Christianity.

Christianity isn't a myth. Christianity exists - I've seen people practice it with my own eyes!
Now, the things that Christianity posits as truth, well, that's another story.
Why should I be interested in how whatever religion you follow defines 'myth'? If it's a religious definition, it's automatically biased, and it's not a definition agreed upon by everyone. I'll stick with the definition of 'myth' provided by MS Encarta (thanks to who posted that), and continue to call Christianity belief in a myth.

Christianity is not a myth. It is a misinterpretation of history repackaged and turned in to a misleading bastardization of earlier Sumerian history. I can understand why cultures of 2000 years ago could fall for it but modern man? I guess the masses have not evolved all the much. Like they say an individual is smart people are dumb. I left group think along time ago.

The "religious" definition? Why don't you enlighten us, I don't have the Oxford Religious Dictionary handy.

I don't believe that Christianity is a myth...obviously, Christianity exists. I do, however, believe it consists of mythology.

HAS christianity EVER produced PROOF for their beliefs???
Therefore, christianity and all the religions ARE a myth/superstition!

Here's some more FACTS about christianity:

hell was created by christians - so shall they go there, to their hell!

christians have KILLED more people in the history of humanity than any other group.

christians have persecuted millions of "non-believers" just because they DIDN'T believe in "christianity!

christians are by far the most brain-washed - brain-dead believers in the world today!

Here's how anyone can prevail OVER christianity and religion:

Create a private, personal, direct, divine Relationship with Our Creator and save your Soul from religion.

Only with Our Creator's Love and Peace will we be Truly Free!

Without God, there is No Love; Without religion, there are No Wars!

"religion is Spiritual fraud"; "religion is the Worse invention of humanity" - Jesus Christ, Buddha and any one else with Spiritual intelligence.
