Do they become priests because of some sexual problem??

Most men who become Catholic priests because they have a vocation. This vocation is demanding, countercultural, sacrificial. Just as marriage is the total gift of self to another, the priesthood requires the total gift of self to the Church, to the flock.

The sexual deviancy that is "seemingly" prevelant in the Catholic clergy has absolutely NOTHING to do with their 'lack of sexual gratification' as a poster above me states...where he gets that other than out of thin air is beyond me...

There is however a tendency to not weed out those men who do not have vocations, do not screen these men in the outset. This issue is pedophila, however a study by Phillip Jenkins, a NON Catholic scholar shows statistically: Pedophilia affects only 0.3 percent of the population of Catholic clergy, and sexual abusers in general account for less than 2 percent of Catholic priests.

Protestant denominations have admitted to having similar problems among their own married clergy, so clearly the problem is not with celibacy. So clearly we see here, that priesthood, celibacy and sexual deviancy is not a valid conclusion.

Again, to state that BECAUSE priests are celibate, it is unnatural, "God did not intend celibacy" is complete rubbish...This idea reduces men to animals, creatures who can't live without their sexual urges being gratified. But humans are not animals.

Humans make choices about the gratification of their appetites. We can control and channel our desires in a way that sets us apart from the rest of the animal world. And again, most sexual abusers are not celibate. It's sexual license that breeds sexual abuse, not celibacy!

Not usually. They develop a sexual problem over time by not allowing themselves to experience sexual gratification as God intended, through marriage. Suppressing this God-given urge due to the unreasonable tradition of men is a gross mistake. The Catholic church has much to answer for.
