White sugar is granulated. It ca be ground finer for powdered sugar. They did some experiments with brownulated sugar to make a product that acted like white sugar but was brown. Brown sugar is less refined sugar that the molasses has not been taken out of. You have to read the label now days though because they are selling a brown sugar with caramel color added.

Yes.......usually called granulated sugar......if a recipe calls for frosting or icing sugar, then that would be powered sugar here in the US........If you run into a recipe that calls for Castor sugar, it's interchangeable with granulated sugar, but it's more akin to the sugar sold in the baking section called superfine granulated sugar (usually used in Iced Tea, as it dissolves much better than regular granulated sugar.....it is also called 10X sugar, which means it's ten times finer a grind or granules)........Hope this helps with any confusion.....
Enjoy!!!

White sugar is usually granulated sugar. Granulated sugar that is processed to a fine grain is powdered sugar. You can use a food processor to reduce granulated sugar to powdered sugar. Brown sugar is granulated sugar with molasses added.
