Surprisingly Raj, almost all the answers show criticism. Nonoe of those chrisitians is able to accept that God was on your friends side. And they call others fanatics. Hypocrisy prevails...

All the best...

God never promised that only good would happen to the "good" or bad to the "bad". All people will be tested, sometimes by trials sent by God and sometimes by mistakes you make or just everyday life. Perhaps he is being tested, to see if he can trust in God. Prosperity is a difficult challenge for many people. Remember what Christ said about a rich man entering Heaven (camel, eye of a needle etc.). Also, Satan may be trying to tempt him. Or maybe it's just life. Life seems to work in cycles, maybe he's on the upside right now. But God does not promise temporal/mortal prosperity to his disciples or a physical life of sorrow. In many cases the consequences of our decisions are not fully played out until the afterlife.

There are different methods of worship. In Gita, Krishna was asked what the correct method of worship is-- worshipping a form or nirankara worship. He said that prayers offered to Him in any form, will reach Him. I do not think that your friend's prayer got fulfilled because he worshipped an idol. I am a Hindu and I worship an idol, not an idol in itself a god. It represents God. If you consider it a mere object, it is indeed an object. If it is regarded as a form of God, it is. There are many who worship an idol and yet it does not fructify. The fruition of your prayer depends on the intensity of it. Do not blame it on the idol and the faith.

Weather we prosper has almost nothing to do with our worship of God. Look at John ( the one who was a disciple) he followed Jesus all his life and he died exiled on an "Alcatraz" like island. Then there are those like Job, rich, famous, but then Satan came along and took everything he owned. He lost all his prosperity, his sheep, camels, all of his children were slain, and then on top of that his wife tells him to curse God and die. His response, Though He slay me, yet will I serve Him. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away, blessed be the Name of the Lord.

But as to worshiping the idol Id point him to Jesus and what He said. Exodus 20.

Prosperity is not always the best gift. Look at Hollywood... some of the most confused, self-absorbed people, with all of the riches that a man can handle, yet NO peace!

Prosperity of physical things is not a promise of God here on earth..

A rich man asked Jesus what must I do to have eternal life with you in Heaven... he told the man to give all of your earthly possessions to the poor and "come with me."

Prospering this way is just temporary- Satan rewards those who follow him as well, however, even Satan knows his future- Jesus already has the victory- I worship Christ- I am struggling with my health and finances, my husband is disabled but I know one thing- I am richer than the richest man without Christ, and one day both my hubby and I will be in heaven with Jesus , never in pain or want again.

Many who worship a false god could have good lives. The Bible teach's the rain falls on the just and the unjust. Understanding and comfort and salvation comes from knowing the true God,.

He may "seem" to be prospering now, but in the end it will only destroy him...and his soul. Do not be envious of him. True riches are found in Christ alone, and last for eternity.
