I have recently rescued a chihuahua from a teenage girl who was unable to financially afford her pet. When I got the little girl I was told that she was pregnant. Since that time it has been confirmed by my vet that Yes she indeed was very pregnant.
My question is... We don't know her exact due date but we figure it is coming soon, is it normal for her belly to change to a darker colouraround the nipple area? At first we thought it was dirt and we tried to wash it away..but of course it's still there...Is this something I should be concered about?

No Worries.
But I would start making her a bed
in the dark end of your closet. Or
place a blanket over her crate.
Most people like to have the
delivery done by the vet. Little
dogs often have problems
giving birth. Better safe than sorry.
Congratulations!! Good Luck

Female chiuahuas being small that they are, you may want to be with her while she gives birth. Some small dogs DIE when delivering. And since the previous owners never told you who the possible father is to these puppies, she may be in for a long and hard toll. Good luck to you on this wonderful little miracle.

Yes, it's normal. It's nothing to be concerned about. Just means she's going to deliver soon.

stay in contact with your vet.. i am surprised your vet didn't spay her when you brought her in... hopefully you won't have to have her get a csection..... start interviewing for repsonsible puppy owners..
