Take her to the vet!

There are several reasons that a cat or a dog for that matter would be going in "inapproprate places". First, check "Fluffy's" sandbox. What looks clean to us might smell like the NYC sewer system to your pet, so dump out all of the litter materal and wash the box. If that doesn't change your cat's attatude then take her to the vet for a full check up. The number one killer of cats is kiddey failure and the nubmer one illness of cats is blader infections. In both cases you cat will have a bunch of problems and pain trying to pass urine and might start "wetting" where you scent is the strongest to make them fell comfortable. If your vet can't find anything wrong with your feline then you cat is acting up. Trying an figure out why she is pissed at you and wants more of your attention than you are giving her.
To keep her from going back to the same place after you have figured out (or not) why she's being a twit, you are going to want to remove the pet stain so she doesn't go back to your favorite Chesterfield or ottoman. There are several gimmics on the market today, Febreeze even has a "pet odor eliminator". Find out what works for you and your pet, if she doesn't like the smell or it really doesn't work she will pee there again. A good tip is to have a water pistol or squirt bottle set on stream to "re-educate" your kitty.
As for the fabric for your new suite, nubbly cloth in a neutral color hides pet damage better than leather and leather is VERY hard to clean.

depending on how old your cat is, It maybe if it's a older cat could be a bladder control problem, If the cat is younger or even old it also could be urinary track infection. Also could be that the cat now has feline diabetes they can get that just like humans. And that also would cause uncontrollable urination.(spelling?) I think best idea to take to vet for blood work that will tell whats the bottom line and once Vet knows what it is they can give medication No more accidents

Has there been anything or anyone new in your house?
Changes such as house guests, a new baby, remodeling, or a new pet can stress your cat. In some cats, this is obvious - hiding or skittish behavior. In other cats, they may not appear outwardly stressed, but may void urine out of the box to show their disapproval -- for example, urinating on your house guest's shoes. Stress and not voiding as often as usual can also lead to a bladder infection.

Feline urinary behavior and medical problems are complex topics. Contact your veterinarian if any changes in litter box habits are noted.

get her checked by the vet first. it may have been she was scared by something if thats why it happened last time. but she may have a bladder infection and has decided the litter tray is hurting her. has anything changed because cats are creatures of habit and don't take kindly to changes and can become stressed. i think fabric is the best way forward for a new suite one with changeable covers but be warned she might take a dislike to it as it won't have her scent on it. i have heard cats tend to scratch more at leather but it does have a strong smell to it when first new. good luck

1. It is imperative to evaluate and rule out a medical cause for the problem. Have your cat checked thoroughly by your veterinarian first.
2. Remove covers from litter boxes.
3. Give the cat a choice of litter types. Cats generally prefer unscented clumping litter with a medium to fine texture.
4. Scoop at least once a day. Once a week, clean the entire box with warm water (no soap) and completely replace litter.
5. Clean “accidents” thoroughly with an enzymatic cleanser designed to neutralize the odor.
6. If the cat is soiling around just a few spots in the home, place litter boxes there. If it is not possible put a box in one of these spots, place the cat’s food bowl, water bowl, bed, and/or toys in the area to discourage elimination.
7. Offer different types of litter in boxes placed side-by-side to allow the cat to demonstrate his preferences for litter type.

Your cat could have a bladder infection which my cat had and all of the sudden he just started peeing everywhere. Before you fuss at him go to the vet soon to get him checked,it could be costly but its worth it for your cat. P.S. my cat just died resently with kidney failure, his semptoms were drinking way to much water, not eatting well, going to the bathroom uncontrolibly, and drowsyness. P.S.S. throughout the day figure out where he usually goes to the bathroom at and just lie a towel down in those places in the meantime. I would personaly get a leather suite which I have ,so easy to clean. Hope this helps, and good luck to you and your cat!

I think leather would be better because it wouldn't be appealing to urinate on, but if she scratches, she could really tear it up. As for the reason why she's doing it, I don't know. My cats have never done that. The only time my cat urinated in the house was on a damp floor mat outside the shower. I simply took it off the floor if it wasn't completely dry and that stopped the problem.

Could be a UTI, better check with the vet. Often cats will continue to mark furniture if the root of the problem isn't found ( and having them constantly mark stuff is incredibly frustrating) and the problem is probably easily treatable if taken care of now

Good Luck

She might have a uninary tract infection. You should take her to the vet to have her checked out. It seems like they just do that sometimes to try and get your attention and let you know:) I know it sounds nuts, but they're smarter than we think!
The leather furniture would probably be easier to just wipe off, instead of letting the cat pee soak into fabric, but I'd be sure and get her checked out asap~BEFORE~I bought anything new:)
Best of Luck!!

You might want to have a vet check her to rule out a urinary tract infection. Cats can change their toilet habits when they have pain.

Leather certainly would not absorb so much liquid as fabric but if she is not declawed you may get holes in the leather.

Let me tell you from experience, cat urine doesn't come off of leather furniture and stains it badly! Also, the smell won't completely go away either. :-(
but you're cat may be acting out from being neglected or maybe and change in the living environment. Cats are tempermental and very sensitive.
