Yes. They have been for over a centurty. That's the point of American schools -- to instill (brainwash) whatever dogma the current administration (school admin or govt admin) approves.

That's why most tests are nothing more than regurtitating facts in the format the teacher wants them to be in. We stopped teaching children to think for themselves back long before the second World War.

And look where it's gotten us -- a country where the vast majority of people don't think for themselves, and just mindlessly spits back what they've been told by others. Just like they have to do on every test they took during school.

It depends on the school and the teacher. It is true that there are many schools and teachers that are in fact brainwashing the youth of America to agree with their own personal beliefs but to generalize all schools of this is unfair and there are many teachers and schools which promote free thinking and choice.

Schools today cost more and produce less informed graduates than ever before. The moral decay of this country is directly related to the failure of the schools to teach morality and ethics. Publishers of textbooks have been allowed to twist history to make pride in country wrong and courage undesirable. Political passive positions have taken over the old family values and initiative is put down in favor of conformity.

i am an american student and love our country but i have to say in some places yes they are because they are taking away phonics classes and if kids dont concentrate they just give them medicine for it.and im usually not this serious just so you know but i have to say yes in some places and no in other places
