by all means contact your creditors before you ship. you can expect 6-8 weeks before you see your first paycheck, and you will not have internet access at all during basic training.
just explain that you are entering military service and will not have access to thereal world for a couple of months.

fist off, send a fax to your credit card company telling them you are invoking the Soldiers and Sailors civil relief act. Include a copy of your enlistment orders, then set up a electronic payment through your bank. Under the soldiers and sailors civil relief act by Federal law all your creditors with interest bearing loans must reduce your interest rate down ot 6% for the balance prior to your enlistment. Stop using the credit cards now. Go to your bank and find out if they have a bill pay system and put your credit cards on it. You will get paid while in basic training, but it will take about 3 weeks before you get your first paycheck. After boot champ you can deal with your credit cards however you want, but best to keep them on bill pay through the bank so that they get their payment on time every month and don't post a bad credit report.

I would use your checking accounts online bill payment to its fullest you can set up a system with all your cards and when the payments are due, you can determine how much is payed each month and on what day, you can also set it up to be done automatically when your gone. I use it all the time because I always forget when things are due and its a lifesaver. Good luck in boot camp.

Oh my God, son- invoke the Soldiers and Sailors Relief Act.
Call your banks and ask nicely for them to lower your APR (interest) to ZERO. Keep on them, and if they refuse, the law requires that they lower it to a minimum of 6%!
Do this now!
Thanks for your service to country regardless of what you or I or anyone else thinks about politics and war. I'm sure you have your reasons and know that life is easier or safer in the Coast Guard or here as a police officer. But you are doing it anyway.
0% APR if you are lucky, or 6% . Then start paying it off.
Join USAA or Navy Federal Credit Union and get DDS to your account. Switch to their credit cards.
Good luck.

Well if you dont trust anyone to give them power of attorney(gives them access to your bank account and can legally sign your name on documents), then I would check my bank to see if they do automatic bill payment. Also some credit card companies have an auto pay feature you set up online. Good luck!

You can set up automatic bill payments with your bank. They same day of every month, they will automatically pay your credit card bill for you. You just need to make sure that you have money in the bank and to pick an amount that will cover your minimum payment.

When your credit card bill is due, the bank can take it out atomically from your account, and your bills will be paid. You have to sign up for that. Or just have your mother of a sister to do it for you, and why are you going to join the army? Its not worth it, trust me I'm a marine Widow and no one cares!

You can set up a temporary pay allotment to the creditors so they receive payment direct from the military. Set it up so that it ends shortly after you complete basic training. Then yyou can resume making your payments normally.

Call up your credit card people and let them know you'll be in boot camp. Ask to speak to a supervisor so that they can advise on how you should proceed.
