Your dog loves you....and according to her past family she may have been left alone too long on her own..Some dogs do suffer from seperation anxiety..However I really think she wants your attention and affection. I don't think its a problem more like a best friend that doesn't want to leave your side...

She has what is known as separation anxiety, i.e. she can't stand to be away from you for long. This does stem from her last family, as it sounds like she wasn't around them much. dogs are loyal and sociable, and so they need to interact with humans, but some dogs do develop separation anxiety, like yours.
Try getting her a dog crate, and putting her in it at night, in the same room as you. This sounds mean, but it isn't a bad thing, it's like her having her own room. Especially if you put a nice bed, blankets and her toys in it. You can get little water dishes to hook on the side as well so she can drink during the night. Just being close to you will reassure her, even if she isn't right next to you.

In one easy answer, yes, she is too attached. Yes, her past has EVERYTHING to do with it. It is very unhealthy for her to need to be with you at all times, and you should gently wean her off. I'm not saying be mean, and don't ruin her loving, affectionate nature. But being so co-dependant is not a good sign. Without getting much further into detail, check out Cesar Milan's website, and if you can, watch his show on National Geographic channel. I've had dogs my whole life, but I've learned a ton by watching his show. And if the dude can rehabilitate pit bulls who fought other dogs, he can do anything.

well my dog is the same way, but the difference is that i am my dogs first owner. he is barely 15 weeks old. so i would say no, some dogs just seem like they like more attention than others, and my moms dog is the same age and its the same situation but her dog keeps to herself. so i guess it just depends on the dog.

Its good if your dog is Atttached.because that show that they really love yuou and that they need you. But it is also good for them to be independent. Its probably just a phase it should blow over. But you could help it if you dont like it by you also not acting like its a security blanket for you.
