i always get strep throat and tonsilitis since i was a kid - now my throat hurts so bad (not a sore throat at all) but pain my neck literally, down where the tonsils are, i can barely move my head from side to side! i also have a bad headache from the pains in neck. anyway i been to doc and they keep giving me penicillin - it goes away and a few months later pains come back! is there any other solution to this prob? also my doc tell me one time that my lymph nodes are pushing agaisnt tonsils causing the pains -- what? i don't get it....how can i fix this problem too...i'm sitting here with a heating pad wrapped around my neck, it's terrible.

I dealt with that all through childhood till I was about 13 and the doctor finally decided to remove my tonsils, your in the hospital for less than a day and the pain is pretty manageable. I know they try to avoid removing these now a days but trust me find a doctor that will because over time you get used to penicillin and it looses its effectiveness. I am actually allergic to it now. Good luck and best of wishes.

See another doctor for a second opinion. An Ear, Nose, & Throat Specialist (ENT).
