I've done plenty of research, and common knowledge tells me the South isn't too accepting to black still anyway.. but with Atlanta being labeled as "the city too busy to hate", how are the people there when it comes to an interracial couple? My fiancee is black, and we currently live in California, but I love the Atlanta area.. but I wouldn't want to move there if we would still get problems going shopping or walking down the street. If you live there, great.. if you may know from experience, even better.

I realize "racism is everywhere", but it's definitely more obvious in some places than not. It's not that easy to ignore, either. Unless you're in one it's hard to tell for sure.

Any answers is highly appreciated. Thanks!

I am a white female and I always date black guys..I am glad you realize that racism is everywhere. But honestly, Atlanta is a great place for interracial couples I PROMISE you. Atlanta has become accepting of all sorts of couples, especially since there are many gay or lesbian couples.

To me I only notice when people "stare" at malls or so when they are like older white people, who probably think I am with some "ghetto" guy just because he is black you know. But most of the time what I see is black girls looking, because unfortunately sometimes they feel like I have "their" man and they still don't accept that some black guys are not attracted to black girls just like myself as a white girl am not attracted to white guys in that way.

But just so you know, how you said you did research and you said that the South isn't very accepting to black people. If you are living far out of atlanta like north where there is mostly all white people you will probably run into a few haters, but if you are planning to live in Atlanta, just know that Atlanta has a very high population of black people yet it is also very diverse with hispanics and asians.

Atlanta is a great place to live, you two will be happy and I hope you do not feel as if you need to hold back on this city because you are in a interracial couple. There is so much to see and enjoy here. Sorry I wrote so much, I just know what you feel!

Well according to many atlanta is a dark city. I mean by that a lot of blacks. There is a good mixture depending on the part of the state you are in. I know of more and more couples like that at work and see more around. I live on the south west suburbs and not to many years ago you did not see near as much. Unless you are in some not up a coming suburb you will not have a problem. Except for the few idoits you should have no problems. I would much rather see this than queer couples. Good luck and best wishes.

The old south wouldn't approve, however, i'm originally from middle GA (now in seattle) but Atlanta is leaving racism behind very quickly. I would not devote any further worries to the thought that you might get "problems".

there are on the one hand, many interracial couples filling atlanta and it's metro area, as well as the rest of the nation. on the other, there are still people that don't accept it.

I see them everyday. Most people here have the good sense to keep their opinions to themselves and mind their own business. We are dubbed 'the city too busy to hate.'
