Try drinking hot tea before you go to bed, like chamomile or sleepy time. Also if there is something pressuring you or if your under stress try relieving that energy, work out or even just write about it.

I have been having the same problem. I have come to realize that I have been eating the wrong things that will keep me awake, so now I eat a small meal at night and also if I am on the computer a lot before I go to bed I can't sleep so try to stay off it for around 3 or 4 hours before bedtime if I can....lol

Also I drink camomile herbal tea before I go to bed and it makes me sleepy......it really helps a lot.

If all of that fails then I take a xanax pill that the Dr. prescribed for me a long time ago (but still in date) and that helps. I don't want to rely on that so do it as a very last resort as I hear xanax is addictive and I don't need that for sure.

Try sleepy time tea. Also, don't eat w/in 2 hours before bed. I have been having problems getting to sleep and staying asleep b/c I have been really stressed lately. Sometimes, if I want to zonk out, I will take 2 tablespoons of NyQuil. Be careful because sometimes you can become dependent on sleeping aids. Also, I read that if you eat a banana or some almonds it helps you because they have natural nutrients that help you sleep (kind of like turkey.)

You need to be on a regular schedule, awake for the same amount of time, sleep for the same amount of time, same time everyday. Don't take naps. It doesn't work to sleep in until 9am, then try to go to bed at 11. You simply haven't been awake enough hours to need to go to sleep. You should be awake 16 hours or even 17.

You could also try slamming two beers.

You need to relax and maybe listen to light music, read a book or any activity that relieves the tension in your mind and body. This usually works for me and when all else fails, a swim usually does the trick.
