In human history slave traders and owners have used passages from the Bible to give them justification for their business of human flesh.
Some modern Christians say that these other Christians were wrong. I applaud these Christians, and hope they will continue to try to stop the slavery, for currently there are over 2 million child sex slaves, and I feel this number is a low estimate.
I ask, there are some Christians not opposed to gay marriage, and do not feel the Bible is part of this political conversation.
Some Christians oppose gay marriage on the basis of the Bible. Perhaps the best move for them is, when invited to the gay marriage, just send a blender.
The sad thing is these Christians many of them find the pro-gay marriage Christians, "Not true Christians".
Gay marriage. Is it possible that one group of Christians, like the historic slave traders, has themselves on the wrong side of this, a moral and human rights issue?

The gospel according to Mary Magdelene says that there is no sin apart from that stated by mankind . [try reading the other gospels , they are eye opening]
Thus there is no sin , and whatever other parts of the bible may proscribe what 2 people should choose to do , they should be allowed and respected for .
As a non christian , surely happiness should be paramount and if some people wish to make their vows to each other in public , they should be welcomed.
Government should take no part in this micro management of any country

Marriage is an institution created by God, who has created all that is good and honorable and right and praiseworthy.
God has ordained and prescribed *and* proscribed who may and who may not marry.
He has ordained and prescribed marriage between *one* man and *one* woman, for "it is not good that man should be alone." (He considered all of creation and could not find a suitable helpmate for man, so he created woman.)
God has proscribed adultery, homosexual practices, incest, bestiality, etc., as abominations.
A homosexual union - a so-called "marriage" is both a religious and a moral issue.
Homosexual "marriage" has become both a "gay rights" and a "political football" because of militant homosexual groups

It is a human rights issue that touches on morality. You are talking about human beings first and foremost. All humans deserve the same fair treatment and the same rights under the law in a just society.

It's a right-wing "wedge issue." The Republicans have been using the "divide and conquer" strategy for the last 26 years. Fortunately, they have over-reached, and it's starting to backfire on them. With luck, the extremists will be marginalized quickly.

True Christianity has the Bible as it's ultimate authority on all issues. This is backed up by 2 Timothy 3:16, 17: "All Scripture is inspired of God and beneficial for teaching, for reproving, for setting things straight, for disciplining in righteousness, that the man of God may be fully competent, completely equipped for every good work."
I acknowledge people's rights to free will and to do what they want, knowing that they're ultimately answerable for their actions. But no true Christian can be in favor of dirtying the sacred and divinely appointed institution of marriage by allowing what the Bible so plainly comdemns.

the current administration wants to focus on something to take our minds off the death of so many people.
To call this war a just war is mine boggleing. So they harp on abortion and gay marriage and try real hard to sound respectable. They have to be against something while they are slaughtering thousands of Americans children.

It's a human rights issue - here in the US we have a Constitution that says that no laws can be enacted based on gender. People can point at the bible all they want. Not every person believes in the bible.

I think moral. if we take marraige as from God which the church has. it is a comittement of a man and a woman to live together and possible raise children. that is never a marraige of 2 men the bible makes it quite clear he is against such things if you wont a cifil partnership that is one thing but to call it a marraige is an insult to God and his church.

I always hate it when people compare gay marriage to slavery, because it trivializes their suffering.
