cheese cubes, a kosher pickle, green apples, hot chocolate in a thermos on cold days or leftover homemade beef stew or chicken and dumplings.....once in a while for a special treat on test days I would put a couple homebaked cookies, a pudding cup, fresh pineapple etc. or maybe a soda (it doesnt hurt as an occasional treat)I always add a mint and a piece of dental floss lol.....kids by the time they sit down have only about 20 minutes to eat so I try to make sure they enjoy it..............I did buy them these lunch bags that are insulated and came as a kit to be decorated with glitter glue decals etc. and had a clear pocket to put in a favorite pic etc. they loved that

I pack a hot thermos lunch for my vegetarian 12 year old daughter every day. She likes spanish rice, curried cous cous, stir fried rice with veggies, mac and cheese, homemade veggie soup, pasta with sauce, cheese tortellini or raviolli with alfredo or tomato sauce, battered veggies, grilled veggie kababs, quinoa pilaf, etc. I usually pack a wrap made from tortilla, rice, beans, cheese, lettuce, tomato, etc. to go along with it, and some crackers or bread, and cookies. I make the meal the night before, then just heat it up before putting it in the thermos. I preheat the thermos by filling it with hot water. It only takes me two minutes to prepare her lunch in the morning-I pack everything I can the night before. I send along juice or water in a seperate thermos. I bought her a larger than normal lunchbox.

You should be asking your children if old enough.

You must ask your husband after all they have to eat the stuff and carry it.

It must fit your packet book also. You have so many good answers from the strangers, so the the right thing.

Baggies of cut up apples, banana chips, potato chips, goldfish crackers, sandwiches or pita wraps, mini-muffins, dry cereal, and of course a note from mom telling me to have a good day and that she loves me.
