Right now I am searching for a used car, and whenever I fond an affordable car, I do a background check on that particular model. The website i most often use is this:
www.consumerguide.com
This website allows you to search any make of any model car produced after the year 1990. It gives a detailed review of the the car in performance, estimated costs of repair, prices for the car, pictures, and pro's and con's of that make. It really is helpful for people like me, who have no clue what the difference is between a Neon and a BMW.

I have a '97 Escort wagon and it does great if I am not stopping and going all the time and has over 200k miles on it. You need to do a maintenance program for any older car.

Well, what's the engine capacity? If it's the 2.0 liter model, I would say that it would give you around 30-33mpg (miles per gallon in case you don't know). Well, predict it yourself, say the capacity goes down a little, you'll get more miles.

Oh, there are ways to lower it's fuel consumption, the most basic, keep revs per minutes as low as possible.
