Lately I seem to have more earwax than usual. The weather has been yo-yo-ing lately and my sinuses are going crazy? Is it possible that my sinuses are somehow affecting the amount of wax in my ears? How often should you actually clean your ears? and how do you know if they need to be flushed?

I have heard that earwax buildup dulls your hearing or can cause ringing. I have heard the same thing about headphones though and I do listen to my ipod alot. Could my ipod usage be causing more earwax somehow?
Or maybe it's my job. I'm a csr. I spend all day on the phones with a headset on.
I'm so confused. Someone help.

loud music (or loud friends) gives me earwax - i guess to protect me. headset could be a bit loud too. also if you've been scratching or cleaning it roughly with earbuds it increases.

if your hearing feels dull or your ears feel/look full of wax you could get them flushed (soften with oil for a day or two, then get a relative to squirt with a syringe of water - or ask the doctor to do it for you). no particular frequency, it depends how quickly the wax builds up.

I don't know if there are things that increase earwax. I also have problems with my sinuses, but haven't had any increased ear wax build up. I clean my ears everyday so I don't have any problem with build-up.

If you're starting to have ringing in your ears and/or hearing problems, go to your doctor. They'll tell you what needs to be done.

It is caused by irritation.
May be you are fiddling. Stop it and the symptom goes away.
Avoid putting in anything.
Even if it irritates, avoid touching.
Will get OK.
Oh yes. Ipod may cause it/ earplugs, I mean.
