How should I approach this?

I was thinking about having my friend hook me up with this girl i really really like, but if she says yes, how would i start talking to her or hanging out with her. I'm really shy and have been meaning to ask her myself for like 3 months, but began thinking of having my friend ask her for me, but now i face this problem. Please help.

You should do it yourself not through a friend.Any mature girl would appreciate if you are man enough to ask her out.But,if you are really shy you can seek help of your friend to only accompany you while you initiate.
I myself will go for a guy who with all his gut confronts me and asks me out.Expecting your friend to do it for you is a big turn off for girls.
Once you hook up,you will first get to know her better.Learn more about her major interests,activities she likes to get engaged in,her likes and dislikes.With this knowledge you can decide on what to do or where to take her because you will not only know what her preferences are but will also mutually decide on your further activities.

Honestly, being female I would totally be turned off by someones friend inquiry about interests. I think you are better off biting the bullet and taking a risk. Life is full of risks, what is the worst she can say "NO" then so be it. Move on to the next. I am not being mean I am just telling you what it would look like to here. Be confident and just go for it. Chances are she is just as nervouse as you are.

DO NOT HAVE YOUR FIREND DO IT!!! I WOULD SAY NO IF YOUR FRIEND DID IT!!! ASK HER YOURSELF. IT DOESNT TAKE THAT MUCH TO DO IT!! IMAGINE IF THIS GIRL LIKED YOU AND HER FRIEND CAME UP AND ASKED YOU OUT FOR HER??? HOW OWULD YOU FEEL?? I WOULD NEVER GO OUT WITH A GUY WHO DOESNT HAVE THE COURAGE TO ASK ME OUT HIMSELF. SWALLOW YOUR PRIDE AND ASK HER. IF SHE REJECTS YOU, IT DOESNT MATTER. MOVE ON WITH YOUR LIFE!
