Jehovah's Witnesses are the only ones that have ever knocked on my door. I was a return visit for over 18 years until I started studying the Bible. I prayed to God to find the truth and He sent his Witnesses to my door. The man that lived around the corner from me was a born again Christian but he never tried to help me. Jehovah's Witnesses did. What are your thoughts?

I am one of Jehovah's Witnesses as well. You said something very important in your question. You said that you were a return visit for 18 years! That is exactly the reason that we knock on doors and return when we can...had the Witnesses not continued to return to your door, had they not had the fortitude to continue going back to you, you would not be my brother....Jehovah knew your heart, and even though 18 years is a long time, Jehovah knew you were worth any human effort it took, no matter how long it took! I am so happy that they continued on knocking!!!!! Praise Jehovah!
I was reading all the other answers and I can't believe all the negative feelings that people harbour about Jehovah's Witnesses, who give freely of their time and put so much effort into trying to help everyone have a chance to gain accurate knowledge, so that they might have a chance at the same glorious future that we do...well, Jesus foretold that this would happen, that people would hate us, but he gave us the most loving encouragement...

John 15:18-21: " If the world hates YOU, YOU know that it has hated me before it hated YOU. 19 If YOU were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because YOU are no part of the world, but I have chosen YOU out of the world, on this account the world hates YOU. 20 Bear in mind the word I said to YOU, A slave is not greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute YOU also; if they have observed my word, they will observe YOURS also. 21 But they will do all these things against YOU on account of my name, because they do not know him that sent me."
and also:
John 17:25 & 26: "Righteous Father, the world has, indeed, not come to know you; but I have come to know you, and these have come to know that you sent me forth. 26 And I have made your name known to them and will make it known, in order that the love with which you loved me may be in them and I in union with them.”

So we take strength in the fact that we know God's name and that he allows us to be known by his name as well...otherwise, we could not call ourselves Jehovah's Witnesses.

I don't know why people think that we get money for this, or that we don't have full time jobs, besides spending any extra time we have in field service. We do this because we love God and his Son, Jesus Christ, and we love our neighbors and we want to see everyone have the opportunity to learn the truth, as we did. It is not for any quota, it is not for money, we spend our own money for gas, for the literature that we pass out, we take time out of our busy day so that we can follow Jesus' command at
Matthew 28: 19 & 20a: "Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU."

The following scripture strengthens me , and I hope it does for all the brothers and sisters who read this as well...

John 5: 11 & 12: “Happy are YOU when people reproach YOU and persecute YOU and lyingly say every sort of wicked thing against YOU for my sake. 12 Rejoice and leap for joy, since YOUR reward is great in the heavens; for in that way they persecuted the prophets prior to YOU."

The JW are the only ones who go from door to door and who have an important message.

"But there are new heavens and a new earth that we are awaiting according to his promise, and in these righteousness is to dwell." -- 2 Peter 3:13

Many people don't understand why we knock on doors because they don't know the Scriptures. Although some people read the Bible they don't understand it.

"While I did not hold back from telling YOU any of the things that were profitable nor from teaching YOU publicly and from house to house. " -- Acts 20:20

"Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit." -- Matthew 28:19

"But he said to them: “Also to other cities I must declare the good news of the kingdom of God, because for this I was sent forth."" -- Luke 4:43

"And every day in the temple and from house to house they continued without letup teaching and declaring the good news about the Christ, Jesus." -- Acts 5:42

I'm happy that I have found the truth. Because of that my life is so much better and it has sense. I'll never give up to Jehovah, our wonderful God.

"I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith." -- 2 Thimothy 4:7

You have a very good question. Because of the Jehovah's Winesses going from door to door I believe that is why we (Baptist) don't do the same. People would think we are Jehovah's Winesses and not answer their doors.

But again if we are going to reach our nation with the truth we must get out there and talk to our neighbors, friends, people we don't know. I think a lot of us, I am ashamed to say, are like your born again Christian around your corner we stay silent.

It has always been difficult to approach the subject of heaven and hell and which place are you going to. Is there a God? Is there a Savior? Is there a Holy Spirit? Is the Bible true in everything it says? People don't like those questions asked to them unless the Holy Spirit has already prepared their hearts.

But they must be asked and answered. Yes, there is a heaven and hell. Yes, there is a Savior and His name is Jesus. He is the Son of God. Yes, there is a Holy Spirit and He is in every one who believes that Jesus died on the cross for them and He was buried and rose again. And He is now back with His Father preparing a place for us and will return for those who believe in Him during the Rapture of the Church. Which is what era we are in now. The dead will be raised first then those alive will meet them and Jesus in the air.

Yes the Bible is true in all things. But sometimes it is hard for believers and Jews to follow what is in it.

So hope that answers your question and I must say I have been put to shame in not sharing my faith like the Jehovah's Witnesses have shared theirs.

Love for God & for people compels Jehovah's Witnesses to go from door to door.
Noah was a preacher of righteousness. He too knew of a coming judgement from God so he warned people about this so that would survive the coming deluge. Unfortunately, the people didn't listen & some even mocked him.
It's the same with the times that we're living in
Matthew 24:37-39
"Just as in the day's of Noah"
The people back then took no note of the warning & paid the price with their life.

This is one of the reasons that Jehovah's Witnesses go from door to door - because they don't want people to suffer the same outcome as they did back then.
Jehovah's Witnesses are never hostile as they recognise that it is God who reads hearts and it is only God who can draw people close to him if their heart condition is right.
We are just the messengers.
It's up to the person whether he/she chooses to reject the message - God has given us all free will & choice - as he did back in the times of Noah.

To 'Heron by the sea' -
The scriptures do not show that all religions lead to God.
Look at Matthew 7:21-23
Jesus is clearly showing that not all who claim to follow him will be acceptable.
He will reject some who even perform many powerful works in his name.
All religions are not acceptable to God.

I read what everyone was saying. we do not change your religion. that is between you and Jehovah. we do not have a to fill anything. several said we tell lies. no we don't we tell you what the bible says about Jehovah and Jesus Christ. many say we don't talk about Jesus Christ. without Jehovah there would never be Jesus Christ. on April 2 at 7 30 all around the world in 236 lands we will be celebrating Jesus memorial. we are the only ones who help anyone who is in trouble and don't brag about it. when there is a hurricane or people are in trouble churches brag about it, even on tv. learn what Jehovah Witnesses are all about at a kingdom hall or our website www.watchtower.org

I think the premise of your question is valid and inciteful. If you truly believe a religion is absolute truth, and that rejecting it has eternal consequences, you would as a caring human being do anything to get others to accept the truth. Even embarrass yourself by going door to door.

I also ask a similar thing about Catholics. If you really believe the host is the body of Christ and deserves perpetual adoration, how do you leave the church ever? DOesn't that show you either don't really believe that, or don't care about Jesus?

Most have tried and failed. I remember when the Pentecostals tried back in the 70s. I have a brochure for Islam trying to get their members to do the same thing distributing the magazines, most specifically, the Universal Challenge issue? According to a flier I was given by one of my taxi passengers, the Islamic Comparative Academy has set a target of getting 250,000 copies a year out to non-Muslims, along with a copy of the Qur'an.

This program looks a lot like the evangelical work done by JWs, though I don’t know what would be the proper term for it in Islam.

Same here, I was asked to leave many Churches because I asked questions that they could not answer. The Witnesses found me over 30 years ago and it was the one of the happiest days of my life.

Very Good point my fellow brother. I bring this same thing out to others when they ask. But also (for people who keep lying on here about us) BECAUSE JESUS TOLD US TO AND DID IT HIMSELF! The world just doesn't have any common sense. Armageddon is so close because the whole world it just stupid. Jehovah has already gathered up "honesthearted ones."

JW's are not the only one's who go door to door. I am an independent fundamental Baptist. my church has an aggressive door to door program, as many many other independent Baptist churches have. My wife and I go out at least once a week to share Christ door to door. It is being done. We care enough to do it, no matter the weather.
