Usually the alphabet soup organizations have a field day splitting up the title into a half dozen parts and make six pseudo-champs to replace the former champ. It's pretty political who gets shots at the pieces of the title, and boxing adds another shovel full to the steaming reputation it has in most media circles. Rarely if ever to the no. 1 and n. 2 contenders of each organization really square off to replace the exiting champ.

The Title is declared vacant and a tourney is held or the no.1 contender fights the no.2 contender. (Or no.3 depending on who your manager is..)
